Additionally, the company is pursuing development of a sustainable lithium brine resource to support the North American battery market and is a minority owner of Fortress North America, a next-generation fire retardant company.Compass Minerals operates 12 production and packaging facilities with nearly 2,000 employees throughout the U.S., Canada and the U.K. Visit compassminerals.com for more information about the company and its productsWe are currently seeking a Stores Assistant to join our Team at our Amherst site in Amherst, Nova Scotia.The Amherst Plant is located in a fully established community of 10,000, situated on the Nova Scotia/New Brunswick border on the northeast end of the Cumberland Basin, an arm of the Bay of Fundy. Amherst is two hours from Halifax and less than an hour’s drive from Moncton, NB. The plant employs 50 and has an annual capacity of 127,000 tons of food grade and water-softening salt, serving customers throughout the Maritimes, Quebec and the Eastern United States.What you’ll like about us:

How will you contribute to the teamSummary: The stores room assistant works with Amherst team and ensure the needs basic understanding of Storeroom function, inventory management, and parts kitting/distribution. This person will develop and prepare materials for use in such events, coordinate with appropriate employees, instruct on proper use of improvement tools, facilitate team decisions, monitor team activity, and develop action plans that introduce innovation into the process that will positively impact results, enhance profitability, and assist the operations team in meeting/exceeding their objectives and goals.Essential Job Functions: Include but are not limited to the following:(Management reserves the right to add or modify the duties and responsibilities at any time.)
  • Counter service including; issues, returns, and parts searches in a timely and efficient manner to ensure high levels of production from employees.
  • Receive parts and services, efficiently and accurately in a computerized environment.
  • Prepare, maintain, and update records related to inventory and part management
  • Liaise with warehouse supervisor and project planner for inventory management and kit preparation
  • Cycle Counts MRO/Direct
  • Prepare repair material for outbound shipment and communicate the same to the Stores Supervisor for action
  • Backfill Lab testing as and when required
  • Active participation in Continuous improvement and housekeeping activities such as but not limited too quicker parts retrieval, parts kitting.
  • Stock buying and expediting as directed by the stores supervisor their designate.
  • Demonstrate compliance and support of EH&S, productivity, leadership, and influence (fostering a respectful work environment), resource management, functional excellence, and customer service.
  • Be on call during weekends and work overtime as required
  • Any other duties as assigned
QualificationsYou bring to the role:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Operation of pallet jack is preferred
  • Knowledge of arrangement of materials is preferred
  • Visual controls in parts storage is preferred
  • Experience with MS Office is preferred
  • Experience with E1 inventory management software considered an asset
  • Familiarity with industrial and commercial equipment and parts considered an asset
Education and/or Experience:
  • Grade 12 Diploma
  • 1-3 years of experience in a similar role
