Job Description

St. Francis Xavier University, located in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, is a top-ranking Canadian primarily undergraduate university focused on academic excellence, innovation in teaching and research, service to society and international outreach.We are seeking a Data Analyst to join the Advancement Office. Reporting to the Manager, Advancement Records, the Data Analyst provides leadership and support for data-informed decision making by providing expertise in data modelling, statistical analysis, data storytelling and reporting. Working in conjunction with the Manager, Advancement Records, the Advancement Data Analyst will be a data steward (maintaining data quality), will complete statistical analysis, offer insights from the data and generate summary reports.This is a non-union full-time position (37.5 hours/week) in Salary Band C with a range of $44,831-54,776.The Data Analyst will carry out the following duties:

  • Manipulating complex databases required for Advancement planning and forecasting and preparing written reports; presenting findings and making recommendations to Advancement leadership team
  • Providing consultation, support and guidance to full Advancement team in preparing and/or interpreting information and key performance metrics
  • Working cooperatively with stakeholders (internal and external to Advancement) to determine their data needs and ensuring consistent and reliable data is available for analysis and reporting
  • Providing advice and support for developing and enhancing processes for Advancement reporting and related data collection. Overseeing ongoing data validation to support institutional data integrity; ensuring quality assurance of reporting analysis prior to sharing with stakeholders. Apply a continuous improvement lens to data collection and reporting
  • Contribute to system requirements gathering in support of future ERP implementation and provide training on new ERP
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree, with three to five years relevant working experience
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills
  • Experience with data analysis, project management, and report writing
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
