Full-Time Permanent PositionTramble Centre for Accessible LearningSt. Francis Xavier University is a top-ranking Canadian university focused on academic excellence, innovation in teaching and research, service to society, and international outreach. We are currently looking for a Disability Resource Facilitator to join our community.The successful candidate will report to the Director of Health, Counselling and Accessible Learning and is responsible for welcoming and orienting students and family supports to the Tramble Centre for Accessible Learning. The Disability Resource Facilitator (DFR) assists students in applying for grant funding for the recommended services and equipment they require, and assesses the need for and provides training in the use of assistive technology. Throughout the academic year, the DRF maintains ongoing contact with students to monitor and support their use of available services, and is the official StFX Liaison with the Nova Scotia Department of Labour and Advanced Education, Post-Secondary Disability Services (PSAS), as well as the official StFX representative to Canada Student Grant Administrations in all provinces and territories. The DRF also liaises with publishers who provide alternate formats of course materials to students who use assistive technology to read course materials. This role is responsible for case management and maintaining files for each student contacted during the school year, and for maintaining a bank of information related to assistive technologies and professional development opportunities.The successful candidate will have at a minimum, a Bachelor of Education degree, or an undergraduate degree in a related field, plus at least two years' relevant experience in a post-secondary educational setting. The incumbent requires proficiency in the forms of technology utilized by students who work with the Tramble Centre, as well as with software used to manage Tramble Centre caseload. Work experience and educational background in the areas of disability, accessibility, and equity are required. The successful candidate must have superior communication and organizational skills, and be a collaborative team member who can also work independently, multi-task and prioritize daily workload.Closing date for applications will be May 7, 2021 1:00 pm.
