Job Description

Full Time PositionOur CompanyThe Maples is a supportive senior living community which opened in 2018. Our community provides all-inclusive retirement living and is located at 31 Smith Way in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Our purpose is to provide a safe and enjoyable experience to our residents and to enhance the quality of their everyday living. For our residents at the Maples, its all about living life to the fullest in a place that residents are proud to call home.The RoleUnder the direction of Management, the Food Services Team Member has an integral and valuable role in the day to day operations at the Maples. Food Services Team Members are key to the residents' well being in that they help to provide delicious and nutritious meals to all who live at the Maples. You will serve as a positive role model and represent the Maples in a positive, efficient, professional and confidential manner.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Provide meal and beverage service to residents and guests to create a pleasant dining experience.Prepare the dining room for meal service with appropriate place settings, food and other supplies.Maintain the cleanliness of the dining room and kitchen area and equipment.Load dishwasher and remove dishes when cleaned.Assist with food preparation and storage of food and kitchen supplies.Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of respecting residents' rights, including respecting others, maintaining confidentiality, promoting independence and respecting privacy.Communicate with Management if there is a noted change in the health status of a resident (e.g. changes in appetite).Establish and maintain good working relationships.Promote and maintain the safety of the staff, residents and visitors as a priority.Ensure procedures are followed when alcohol is being served.Maintain good personal hygiene and neatness.Maintain sanitation and safe food handling standards.Other duties as assigned.RequirementsA focus on the well being of the residents and guests.Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.Food service experience and/or previous experience working with seniors would be considered an asset.Ability to work a schedule of flexible hours/shifts inclusive of day, evenings, weekends, holidays and nights.Food safety handlers certification
