Social Workers are primarily concerned with the relationships between people and their environments, which are integral to psychosocial, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. The social determinants of health are embedded in social work theory and practice and are the focus for the dynamic and interactive process of engagement, assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation. Social Workers build upon the strengths of patients/clients by focusing on existing coping strategies and problem solving skills, past successes, and personal resources.Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Social Work
• Registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers
• Two years of post graduate related experience required
• Previous clinical experience working with clients who have persistent pain is an asset
• Ability to work collaboratively with others members of the team
• Experience with group facilitation
• Screening and assessment for MHA disorders, including suicide risk assessment
• Ability to reach a joint formulation with clients and establish treatment goals
• Ability to handle a crisis that may arise for clients during individual or group sessions
• Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
• Successful external applicants are required to provide a criminal record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) to People Services before starting employment and assume any associated costs as a condition of employment.

Hours of Work

• Permanent, Part-time (20%) position; 15 hours bi-weekly
