This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.ResponsibilitiesThe incumbent will perform clerical procedures related to chart processing control. Schedule will be evening shifts with the possibility of weekend and holiday shift coverage. Specific duties can include:Process inpatient admissions, day surgery and outpatient records ensuring that charts are received in the department in an appropriate timePrepare, scan and verify outpatient, inpatient and day surgery records to continuously create and support the Enterprise Medical Record (EMR) and the Electronic Health Record (EChart)Incumbent utilizes NShISMaintain appropriate registers and distribute to appropriate agencies as requiredMaintain chart control procedures to ensure accurate chart retrieval/maintenanceMaintain the accuracy of the Master Patient Index (MPI) in MeditechProvide excellent client service in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentMaintain confidentiality of all communications, written and verbalProcess all types of patient/client documentationProvide assistance to physicians as required for chart completionReceive and process telephone inquiriesQualificationsGrade 12 plus successful completion of a one year secretarial or business program, or 1 year recent clerical/secretarial experience requiredMedical Terminology courseProficient keyboarding skills with clear demonstrated knowledge of WindowsGood interpersonal and communication skills – a high degree of tact, judgment, and confidentialityAbility to work independently, assess situations and seek resolution if possible, in accordance with hospital policies and proceduresAbility to work in an area with frequent interruptionsExperience with scanning and archiving process is an assetCompetencies in other languages an asset, French preferredIncumbent will be required to pass a written skills test and interview processPLEASE NOTE: Candidates will not be considered for an interview if applications are incomplete or are missing information.
