The secretary is responsible, as part of a team, for the effective and efficient operation of the office on a day-to-day basis.Responsibilities include working independently and as part of the Public Health Team. Duties include but are not limited to: communicating effectively with public health staff, the general public, and outside agencies; typing, records management; computer applications; and working with the public health managers, consultants and public health staff to meet their administrative support needs.The Secretary II ensures that the principles and practices that guide NSH such as the vision, mission, values, strategic directions, ethics, safety, quality, partnerships and interprofessional collaboration are integrated within the support that is provided by the work that they do and through the messages they deliver.About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Successful completion of a medical office administration program required.
  • Extensive experience in electronic communication (including but not limited to) Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Outlook required
  • Demonstrated competence in verbal and written communication and strong public relations skills required.
  • Demonstrated experience with electronic medical records required (successful candidates will be provided Panorama training)
  • Minimum two (2) years experience in a health care setting required; experience working in a multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to respect and maintain confidentiality of all health care information.
  • Ability to manage stressful situations and work as a team member.
  • Ability to prioritize workload in order to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work as a proactive member of a multi-disciplinary Public Health team.
  • Superior written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, resourceful, flexible and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Able to think critically and problem solve.
  • Understanding of the principles of Public Health.
  • Customer service orientated, ensuring all staff, patients, and members of the public are treated courteously, professionally and with respect.
  • Supports and delivers quality patient safety standards within the health authority.
  • Responsible for contributing to the achievement of the health authority’s accreditation standards.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.
