The Team Aide will be assigned to assist Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses and work as part of a health care team, to meet the needs of patients and support efficient unit operations.Qualifications

  • Graduate of a Continuing Care Assistant program plus provincial certification, or equivalent
  • 2 years experience required
  • Current CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Current certification in CPI (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience in care of the medical/surgical and geriatric/rehabilitation patient an asset
  • Commitment to excellent patient care
  • Adaptable to change and flexible to accommodate the expectation of the position
  • Ability to take direction and accept accountability for actions taken
  • Ability to work in a self-directed environment and also effectively within an interdisciplinary team
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills
  • Physical ability to perform duties of the position
  • Good work and attendance record; attendance records may be reviewed
  • Commitment to maintain and protect patient, client, and personal safety on an ongoing basis
  • Commitment to confidentiality and privacy of NSHA patients and clients
  • Annually access the training and education on patient, client and personal safety made available by NSHA
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
