Visit us today and check out www.novascotia.com to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Food Supervisor and Manager of Patient Food Services, the Utility Worker performs basic, routine duties related to the assembly and service of food for patients and cafeteria clientele. Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering patient menus, trays and nourishments
  • Communicating with supervisory staff and Dietitians regarding patient food preferences/intolerances/menu issues
  • Operating and cleaning dishwasher and other equipment as required within the department
  • Washing dishes, and pots, pans as required
  • Stocking pantry areas on nursing units with nourishments
  • Performing extra cleaning within the department, stocks and cleans storeroom, refrigerators and other areas
  • Portioning some menu items
  • Performing other duties as required
Qualifications
  • Completion of Grade XII
  • Completion of Food Handlers Course would be an asset
  • Must be able to follow directions, both oral and written
  • Must be able to operate Dietary equipment
  • Must be able to perform repetitive duties
  • Heavy lifting is required to perform this job
  • Physically demanding with prolonged periods of standing
  • Previous Dietary experience in a health care setting would be an asset
  • Annually access the training and education on patient, client and personal safety made available by Nova Scotia Health
  • The successful applicant will have a commitment to the mission and values Nova Scotia Health
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
