• Cleaning, preparation and maintenance of construction equipment or components
• Performing a wide variety of jobs using basic construction skills and/or operating some power equipment
• Identifying, distributing materials and equipment
• Transport raw materials, finished products, scrap and recyclable materials throughout plant manually or using forklift or other powered equipment
• Feed conveyors, crushers and other equipment; open valves and start pumps; sort, stack, bundle and stamp materials
• Perform other activities to assist process and machine operators
• Clean work areas and equipment
• May assist with minor repairs and maintenance

Skills

• Strong mechanical aptitude
• You possess an uncompromising commitment to health and safety and demonstrate safety at all times
• You are safety focused when it comes to people and equipment
• Work shift work (days/nights) of up to 8-2 hours per day
• Experience working at heights with the use of special fall restraint equipment
• Perform physically demanding work including climbing multiple flights of stairs and carrying equipment (able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis)
• Experience and comfort with confined spaces such as a small vessel/tank or trench
• Work outdoors in harsh weather conditions
• Comfortable with the use of additional respiratory equipment and air supply; wearing a full face mask and carrying your own source of oxygen
• You’re happiest working in a team, sharing a laugh with your coworkers and getting the job done safely

Qualifications

• Limited or no field experience, 1+ year’s labour experience is desirable
• Minimum of high-school
• Standard First aid, fall arrest, and/or flag person training is beneficial
• Experience around heavy equipment is an asset
• Ability to work on tight timelines and deadlines
• Previous experience in operating of forklift, skid steers or small loaders is an asset
• Valid ECS CSO certification (or combination of CSTS-09 and OSSA Regional or BSO)
• Your ability to read and write will ensure you meet the testing requirements
• Able to provide a negative result on a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
