Job Description

SBM is currently seeking Structural/Building Design Technologist Co-op in our London office for an 8-month term (may consider 4-month term). The successful candidate will assist both the structural engineeringamp; building design departments with the design and drafting of residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. The candidate will be required to work with the structural engineersamp; building design team in producing of designs/drawings for permit and construction. The candidate will be expected to work both independently and within the project group to facilitate the design requirements to reach project completion. The candidate will also be encouraged to take on special project tasks to help promote efficiencies of current design procedures and will have the opportunity to attend occasional site visits.Company Summary:Join the dynamic team at SBM, a leading multi-disciplinary engineering firm renowned for its innovative and collaborative approach to building solutions.   • Become familiar with design guidelines, standards, and regulations associated with building design and structural engineering,
  • Accept technical guidance from designers, technologists, and senior staff,
  • Work within the project team environment from preliminary stages of the design through to completion,
  • Coordinate building designamp; structural aspects of projects with other discipline designs and drawings,
  • Complete drawings and documents in conformance with building code and office standards,
  • Other tasks as assigned by Structural/ Building Design Lead or Division Manager;
  • Occasional site visits as required,
  • Comply with all company standards, policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Enrolled in an Architectural Technology Diploma program,
  • Eligible for a 4 or 8-month co-op registered through a post-secondary school (8 month preferred),
  • Experience in design and drafting considered an asset,
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook,
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and Revit, Twinmotion experience also considered an asset,
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills,
  • Effective team member,
  • Commitment to ongoing professional and personal growth; willingness to learn,
  • Adaptable and flexible to changing priorities, and,
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization,
  • Ability to work both independently with little supervision and in a team environment,
  • Knowledge of construction materials and practices.
