People like you!Job DescriptionThe primary function of this role is to overhaul, repair and maintenance of all mechanical components of Heavy machineries we use at our granule production plant. This position will be reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor and must comply with all safety requirements and protocols for working in a hazardous environment.PLANT DESCRIPTIONIG Machineamp; Fibers Ltd. at the Ashcroft production facility is processing, colouring, and shipping granules used for the roofing system. We are seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team of skilled professionals. This position is part of the IAMAW, Lodge 692 (Union), and as such the successful candidate will be required to join and be subject to the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.PLANT LOCATIONIG Machines and Fibers Ltd., Barnes Lake Rd, Ashcroft, BC V0K 1A0WHAT #39;S IN IT FOR YOUCompetitive salary starting Rate: $43.08 an hour.Competitive health, dental and insurance plansCompetitive matched retirement savings programThe opportunity to join a continuously growing organization with focus on Diversity and InclusionThe opportunity to work with an industry leader in manufacturing.The opportunity to have overtime and banked hours.Yearly $200 as safety allowanceIn-house training and development opportunities.WHEN YOU JOIN US, YOU WILL BE:Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer #39;s instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, using precision measuring and testing instruments.Removes defective parts by dismantling devices, using hoists, cranes, hand, and power tools, examining form and texture of parts.Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.Clean, lubricate, and adjust parts, equipment, and machinery.Cut and weld metal to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, and assemble new equipment.Repair and maintain the operating condition of industrial production and processing machinery and equipment.Record parts and materials used, and order or requisition new parts and materials as necessary. Record repairs and maintenance performed.Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:Must have a valid British Columbia Industrial Mechanic License.Having a full set (up to 24/1 quot;mm) of metric standard tools is an asset.Exposure to mechanical devices, pneumatic controls and welding/cutting.Must have at least 3 years; experience in a manufacturing environment.Must be able to read mechanical drawings.Must be able to work shifts as well as some extended hours and weekends.Qualified applicants will have good interpersonal and problem-solving skills and will be able to work with other trades and operators.Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds on a routine basis.Must be able to walk and/or stand 50-75% of the shift.Benefits of Employment: IKO recognizes that its success is due to the strength of its employees.
