Job Description

It is our mandate to promote from within and facilitate both personal and professional growth and development.ScopeAssist in Managing the Banquet Team in the set up and service of functions while maintaining four diamond service levels and standards.Duties & Responsibilities

  • Organize daily events and supervise the set up, service and tear down of a variety of functions for 5 to 500 guests.
  • Follow Banquet Event Order (BEO) for all set up and Food & Beverage requirements.
  • Ensure all coffee breaks/meals/meeting rooms are set up for the required time.
  • Collect cash, room charges and credit slips from guests for any individual charges for bar tabs or extra items ordered.
  • Enter and print daily billing for functions on both Salesforce and Micros.
  • Ensure operations are within the budget.
  • Provide guidance to Supervisors, Captains & Staff.
  • Communicate with all other departments within the hotel to ensure all function needs are met.
  • Attend weekly Food & Beverage meetings in Manager’s absence.
  • Attend pre-con meetings with conventions and conveners.
  • Hold regularly scheduled Banquet meetings and conduct daily line ups.
  • Ensure the proper maintenance and housekeeping of Banquet storage rooms, back spaces and functions spaces.
  • Assist with maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
  • Ensure friendly and efficient customer service is provided to all guests and associates of the hotel.
  • Provide guidance to Banquet servers through training and ensure disciplinary actions are taken when required.
  • Conduct Performance Reviews.
  • Be a hands on leader within the Banquet Department.
Physical Demands
  • Significant standing and walking
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of trays, tables, and other items weighing up to 25 pounds / 12 kg
  • Frequent use of hands for polishing glassware and cutlery
  • Frequent bending and reaching
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds / 23 kg
  • Occasional sitting
  • May be required to assist with pushing carts weighing up to 400 pounds / 181 kg
Qualifications
  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Alberta ProServe Certification
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the position
  • 1-2 years of supervisor/ managerial experience
  • Knowledgeable in a variety of liquor and wine
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to priority tasks and be a hands on leader
  • Actively contributes to a positive and motivating work environment
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Available to work a flexible schedule and long hours based on business levels
  • Customer-service oriented
  • Computer-literate
