Job Description

It is our mandate to promote from within and facilitate both personal and professional growth and development.This position will work 11:00 pm to 7:00 am shifts.This position is eligible for free on-site staff accommodation (as a taxable benefit) OR a $1.00 per hour premium if staff housing is not required.ScopeThe Graveyard Maintenance worker supports the Engineering team in maintaining the overall appearance and internal workings of the Hotel.Duties & Responsibilities

  • Completing daily hotel rounds to check light bulbs and parkade
  • Completing general maintenance and repair work in all areas of the Hotel including kitchens, restaurants and lounges, spa and fitness area, public washrooms, and back of house areas
  • Execution of assigned special maintenance projects
  • Cleaning pool and whirlpool filters, backwash, and tiles and checking chemical levels to to ensure a safe and healthy environment
  • Assisting in maintaining the physical appearance of the grounds including collecting garbage, sanding icy areas, chipping ice, plowing and shoveling snow etc.
  • Attending to scheduled room checks and room calls, noting condition of rooms and required repairs
  • Assisting with other maintenance tasks as assigned
Physical Demands
  • Requires significant walking and standing
  • Frequent climbing of stairs
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 22 pounds / 10 kg
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds / 23 kg
  • Exposure to chemicals and controlled substances
  • Significant bending, kneeling, crouching, stretching, reaching, twisting
  • Occasional climbing of stools and ladders
  • May involve sitting with pushing and pulling of arm and/or leg controls
  • Working indoors and outdoors
  • May be required to work in enclosed spaces
Qualifications
  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Some post secondary education and training in electrical and plumbing
  • Available to work an 11:00 pm to 7:00 am shift
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the position
  • Demonstrates a mechanical aptitude
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Reliable and self-motivated
  • Able to work independently and to problem-solve responsibly
  • Effective communication skills
