Job Description

Were looking for a Head Chef to join us at Magpie & Stump! Taco Eatery. Tequila Drinkery. Magpie & Stump is one of Banff’s oldest establishments (36 years and counting) and guarantees a classic Banff experience complete with tacos, tequila, and debauchery. This little piece of Mexico in the mountains serves up tacos, burritos, enchiladas, and over 60 tequilas. Want to know more Check us out here: https://www.banffcollective.com/el-patioHead ChefThe Head Chef contributes to the success of the company by participating in the management of the daily operations of the restaurant, including the management of all employees in conjunction with the General Manager. In addition, they manage inventory and supplies, optimize profits, and ensure that guests have an experience that lives up to the company values. They work closely with the service team and participate in decisions with the executive team.We Love Perks! This Position Includes:

What You’ll Do
  • Oversee and manage all areas of the kitchen operations and use your discretion to make decisions quickly.
  • Ensure consistent food preparation and the highest caliber of food presentation, looking for ways to continuously improve and communicate with your team.
  • Adhere to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs, including food, and labor costs.
  • Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of the kitchen.
  • Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/provincial/local laws, and ordinances.
  • Deeply understand, and have a strong commitment to, brand, constantly delivering and getting others to deliver the brand promise.
  • While you’re very focused on ensuring outstanding food quality – you also recognize the importance of employee experience and building a strong team culture.
  • You’ll lead by example, having a presence in the kitchen for the duration of your shift.
  • The preparation and attendance of weekly and monthly planning meetings.
  • Work with the HR team to attract, recruit, hire, and retain employees.
  • Consistently communicate with the Corporate Chef on menu and major decisions.
What You Have
  • You dont shy away from working with various types of technology and systems, including the ability to troubleshoot, update, and train others on the use of.
  • You need to not only be an amazing team player but also have a knack for bringing others together to work towards a common goal.
  • Connecting with people and building trusting relationships comes easy to you.
  • Understanding of the importance of communication and workplace culture.
  • Collaborative working style and team focus.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Willing to take a step back to look at things from other perspectives and be open to a different way.
  • Ability to work with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
  • An innate understanding of current food trends and the ability to translate those to the plate.
  • We understand you want to get outside as much as possible, but you’ll need to have flexibility in your schedule for us.
  • 2-4 years of experience in a supervisory kitchen role, with experience in a high volume, casual late-night dining environment
