The Demi Chef is the first point of contact for Commis Chefs and supports the Chef de Partie in managing the station.Duties & ResponsibilitiesPrepare, season, and cook food following special dietary instructions where requiredFollow recipes and presentation specificationsProvide direction to Commis ChefsHelp in Menu creationOperate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficientlyEnsure that station opening and closing procedures are carried out to standardClean and maintain station and overall kitchen through practicing good safety and sanitationAdhere to all sanitation and food production procedures and codesAssist with the enforcement of Health & Safety protocolsAssist with orderingWork within budgeted guidelinesPhysical DemandsContinuous standing for long periods of timeFrequent walking, bendingFrequent reaching above and below shoulder heightFrequent lifting and carrying up to 22 pounds / 10 kgOccasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds / 23 kgWorking in a hot, noisy, fast-paced environmentKnowledgeCompletion of Grade 12 or equivalentCulinary degree and 2 years of cooking experience OR 5 years of related cooking experienceExperience and proficiency in both a la carte and production cookingPrevious experience in a leadership role in the kitchenValid food handler certificateAble to meet the physical demands of the positionSelf-motivatedAble to work under pressureExcellent communication skillsThank you for your interest in joining our team!
