Reportingto the Coordinator, the Career Counsellor operates in a results orientedenvironment and is accountable for providing outcome based employment servicesto employers and job searchers. TheCareer Counsellor is responsible for developing and case managingindividualized employment plans which may include negotiating wage incentivesand training programs with employers and/or determining appropriate employmentsupports and working non-traditional hours to service the diverse needs ofemployers and/or job searchers. Responsibilitiesalso include maintaining accurate evidence of individualized employmentservices in databases and manual files to document services and outcomes;facilitation of group sessions; referrals to community resources; intake and supportservices for Resource and Information area; participation in appropriate communitybased activities and cold-calling and/or on-site employer assessments andemployer monitoring visits.Qualifications Skills and Experience:Two (2) year college diploma in career counselling, sociology,or a related field with practicum, or equivalent, plus (two) 2 yearsrelated experience in youth and adult employment service, job development,community development or continuing education;Excellent interpersonal, organizational, oral, andwritten communication skills;Ability to work effectively in a team environment;Ability to work flexible hours to meet organizationaldemands;Computer skills in MS Office, Outlook, Internet, SmartBoard, databases, Zoom and LinkedIn;Knowledge of the local labour market, communityresources and government programs and services;Certified Career Development Practitioners ispreferred;Valid Class G Driver’s Licence and reliable personalvehicle; kilometer reimbursement at SCDSB approved rates.Applicants are required to submita resume detailing education, experience, and qualifications; documentationconfirming certifications; and written permission to contact two professionalreferences on or before 12:00 p.m. June29, 2021.
