We are one team, with one goal and we all work together to continue making our community great.The OpportunityThe Department: Corporate Facilities provides the City of Barrie with expertise in four key service areas: facility planning, design and construction; maintenance and property management; facility asset management; and energy management. As a Centre of Excellence for a large and complex inventory of physical assets, the department comprises all the necessary functions and lines of business to ensure the full life-cycle management of the City of Barries facility and property portfolios. The Position: The Custodian (PT) position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the City’s various facilities. Specifically, this position performs various cleaning duties and provides customer service to facility patrons. Overall, this position plays an integral role in maintaining City facilities to provide a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for staff, residents and visitors of the City of Barrie.The Candidate Pool: The City of Barrie is accepting applications for future casual part-time Custodian vacancies. The Corporate Facilities Department is establishing an eligibility list of qualified candidates who will be considered for future casual part-time Custodian vacancies. Education (degree/diploma/certifications)

• Completion of a grade ten (10) Secondary School education
• Standard First Aid and CPR Level C Certifications obtained prior to start date
• Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certification obtained prior to start date

Experience

• Demonstrated experience working with various cleaning supplies and equipment

Knowledge/Skill/Ability

• Demonstrated ability to:
  • maintain a high standard of public relations at all times
  • perform in a manner which is consistent with corporate goals, vision, mission and values
  • work independently with minimal supervision
  • exert effort to lift, push, pull, or carry objects for long periods of time
• Basic attention to detail, customer service, and oral communication skills

Other Important InformationLocation: Various City Facilities, as requiredHours: The normal hours of work are up to and including 24 hours per week with a varying schedule to support business demand.Wage: This is a casual part-time non-union position with the following 2021 pay range:

• Hourly Pay Rate: $16.22 to $18.71 per hour
