You engage with others to create mutual understanding and trust. WHAT WILL YOU DOAs an Environmental Risk Assessor, you will support on projects related to human health and ecological risk assessments, and work with a variety of public and private clients on a wide range of projects. You will be responsible for conducting and managing environmental risk assessments as well as supervising junior staff members to meet project deliverables.JOB DUTIES
  • Technical support and leadership in human health and ecological risk assessments, as well as risk management plan development.
  • Provide strategic advice related to risk-based approaches in support of redevelopment, remediation and/or risk management.
  • Project planning, scheduling, allocation of personnel and resources, budgeting, and regular communication with clients.
  • Project coordination, managing subcontractors, technical leadership, and technical design for public and private sector clients.
  • Developing project proposals (scope, schedule, budget) and assessing the feasibility of various RA approaches (e.g., MGRA, Tier 3 RA)
  • Design, manage and execute human health and ecological risk assessments as well as soil vapour and indoor air quality assessment programs.
  • Aid in data management, contaminant fateamp; transport modelling, exposure modelling and quantitative risk calculations.
  • Directly responsible for the health and safety of any person working on an assignment under the supervision of the project manager.
  • Ability to interact, present findings and advocate on behalf of the client with applicable regulatory agencies and stakeholders.
  • Coordinating with inter-office/company disciplines (e.g. water/wastewater, geotechnical and biology/ecology) on multi-disciplinary projects such as site development, environmental remediation, landfill development, and/or environmental restoration.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior and intermediate Cambium personnel.
  • Travel, shiftwork and overtime may be required.
Requirements
  • University degree (Master’s degree preferred) in one or more of the following: environmental science, toxicology, or chemical engineering.
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience conducting risk assessment work.
  • Must be a QPRA under O.Reg 153/04.
  • Environmental consulting experience is an asset.
  • A thorough knowledge of Provincial, Federal and local regulations, guidelines and standards.
  • Attention to detail in all undertakings is essential.
  • Superior organizational and communications and critical thinking skills are essential.
  • Desire to succeed in a dynamic, progressive organization.
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills with fluency (reading, writing and oral) in English.
  • Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
