Job Description

STUART AND HILL CONSTRUCTIONWe are a growing company within the Simcoe/Muskoka region offering general contracting services in the residential and commercial markets. Stuart and Hill Construction is looking for a detailed oriented multitasking full-time Junior Estimator to join our team!JUNIOR ESTIMATORWe are looking for an experienced candidate who has demonstrated experience in scheduling and estimating in both residential and commercial projects, initiative and drive to work independently and part of a team, with a positive attitude and excellent communication skills.As a member of the team, you will be accountable for reviewing potential tender opportunities, preparing take-offs, projecting accurate job costs, measuring, coordinating, attending site meetings, creating tender documents and bid proposals and lastly most importantly, supporting in the identification and pursuit of prospective projects.RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING:

  • Provide review of all bid documents to ensure clarity in content of all tenders being submitted
  • Creation of quantity take-offs for pricing, scheduling and estimating purposes
  • Accurately estimate each job and review the estimate with the Principal prior to submission
  • Schedule estimated timeframes for required labour, equipment, materials, and subcontractor arrangements
  • Solicit pricing from vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers for material costs, in order to ascertain the lowest price.
  • Calculate man hours required for all associated work with the project
  • Participate in the identification and pursuit of prospective projects
  • Schedule and attend bid meetings and site walkthroughs
  • Assist in collection/running of material from authorized vendors to ensure project continues on time and in budget
  • Create and maintain databases including project type, client, vendor, subcontractor, pricing and project costs for future references
  • Organization of all tenders, RFIs, RFQ’s RFPs and addenda
  • Follow-up and review with sub-trades to ensure pricing
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisors direction
REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work well both independently and within a team environment, across multiple locations
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Attention to detail and passion for quality work
  • Own Vehicle and Valid Class G License
  • Working knowledge of Ontario’s Building Code requirements
  • 2-4 years of construction estimating experience is required
  • Previous experience in the construction industry (i.e., engineering, contracting, CAD, project management, estimating) is considered an asset, but not required.
Job Type: Full-timeSalary: $45,000.00-$55,000.00 per yearFlexible Language Requirement:
