Job Description

Hiring for the Following Shifts to start working immediately:1 Part Time PSW/SupportWorker24 Hours per weekMonday to Thursday Evenings 7:00AM - 1:00PMUnder the direction of the Executive Director or Designate, Personal Support Workers will assist with the overall daily operation of Murray’s Windermere Gardens Community Residential Facility.Duties include but are not limited to the following:Sign out designated keys and Personal Protective Equipment such as panic alarms.Use Personal Protective Equipment including but not limited to the following: two way radios, panic alarms, gloves and masks.Communicate before and after shift of any significant events in writing and verbally upon shift change.Read and sign off on all logbooks and record books.Record and report all pertinent information as per policy and procedure.Reporting incidents, resident concerns, health and safety hazards, workplace accidents, bed bugs/pandemics and maintenance/repairs to Assistant Executive Director or designate, immediately.Provides cuing and basic personal care to the resident.Provides assistance with a variety of household tasks.Provides cognitive, social and/or emotional support to the resident.HOUSEKEEPINGFacility cleaning.Assist resident with a variety of household tasks.Maintain the overall cleanliness of the resident’s room. Duties include but are not limited to the following: dusting, sweeping and mopping floors, reorganizing, deep cleaning, making beds and completing bed bug checks as per schedule.Assist with resident’s laundry as per schedule; fold and put away clothing.MEALSCue resident for meal and snack time.Assist them to the dining room.Deliver meals and snacks to residents.PERSONAL CAREProvide direction, queuing and assistance to residents regarding personal care. This may include but is not limited to the following: bathing, incontinence maintenance, nail trimming, hair trimming et al.FIRST AID CPREmployees are to use universal precautions at all times.Employees must advise residents to contact Telehealth/Mental Health Crisis Line or seek medical attention from a nurse or doctor for any medical/mental health issue that cannot be addressed by Standard First Aid and CPR procedures.MEDICATIONCue residents for every medication pass and take them to get their medication.Report medication noncompliance to the supervisor on duty.PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATIONEncourage resident’s participation in programs offered in house.Remind residents of upcoming/daily appointments.To assess resident’s progress with regards to behaviour, attitude, house rules and to report to the supervisor.COMMUNICATION and DOCUMENTATIONCommunicate before and after shift of any significant events in writing and verbally upon shift change.Record pertinent information in each resident’s file as per the direction of the DOC.Ensure confidentiality of all resident’s records, files and verbal information received.Report all security incidents immediately to Monitor on shift.Additionally: Always know resident’s whereabouts. If resident is missing, follow policy and procedure.Enforce and ensure that all house rules are always followed.Know the proper emergency procedures to follow in case of fire, violence, or sickness.Know the proper telephone handling and screening techniques to protect residents from harassment, know in –coming and out-going resident calls and watch for illegal transactions over the phone.Knowledge of GPA and crisis intervention techniques. Handle crisis situations when they arise, by diffusing and immediately, informing the Assistant Executive Director or Designate as per policy.Establish a positive environment for residents that are conducive to personal growth, communication and an understanding of social norms.Pass an “Enhanced Reliability Security” check.Must be First Aid/CPR certified.Immunizations including Tuberculosis must be up to date.Performs typing, filing, and other related office duties i.e. answer phone.Attend all staff meetings and training as directed by Assistant Executive Director or Designate.Fill out time sheets for shifts worked. Overtime hours must be approved by the Assistant Executive Director or Designate.Perform other duties as required by the Assistant Executive Director or its Designate.Read all policy and procedure manuals and sign acknowledgments – Policies and Procedures Manual, Health and Safety Manual, Fire and Emergency Manual.Ensure sufficient notice is provided if unable to work a scheduled shift. Notify on designated on call person immediately via telephone. Shift change coverage is staff responsibility. Shift changes must be clearly indicated on the schedule and through email to scheduling officer.Attend all staff meetings and training.Job Types: Part-time, PermanentSalary: $16.00-$18.00 per hourSchedule:
