Please reach out to us to learn more!General Accountabilities:Reporting to the Manager, Distribution Damage Prevention this role will support Program Process Specialists (PPS) with management of underground locate contracts and damage claims including:

  • Monitor and report on vendor compliance with contracts, legislation, and regulations.
  • Assist with documenting processes and continually review for opportunities to improve.
  • Support the implementation and ongoing requirements of changes in the underground locate industry.
  • Liaise with Ontario One Call, vendors, and other utilities to assist with arranging dedicated locator for requested projects.
  • Monitor processes to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Building Broadband Faster Act, the Ontario Underground Infrastructure Notification System Act, and Hydro One procedures.
  • Provide information internally and externally on dedicated locator model, and Hydro One requirements.
  • Assist with onboarding of additional dedicated locate service providers, including contract execution, records transfer, and arranging ticket management access.
  • Monitor locate service provider performance and contractual compliance with Hydro One requirements.
  • Support PPS and industry partners in establishing reporting framework and templates for service providers.
  • Support Alternate Locate Agreements to improve locate delivery timelines.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and recommend changes and best practices to meet locate compliance requirements.
  • Provide input into the development of the communication and training requirements relating to processes and prepare and deliver presentations and other materials as required.
  • Contribute to the interpretation and assessment of performance as it relates to the execution of work programs, effectiveness and adaptation of business processes, tools and systems.
  • Assist in process benchmarking and identify potential best practices to improve assigned processes.
  • Prepare analysis or provide information or advice in response to internal and external requests.
  • Assist with reporting requirements including weekly dashboards, monthly financial reporting, and ad hoc reports as required.
  • Work with various internal and external parties to support the damage claims process to ensure costs associated with 3rd party damages are recovered.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Selection Criteria (Essential Knowledge & Experience):
  • Requires knowledge of legislation and regulations impacting underground infrastructure owners, including the Ontario Underground Infrastructure Notification System Act.
  • Requires understanding of Ontario One Call and underground locate processes.
  • Requires ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders including external utilities, locate service providers, and other industry partners.
  • Requires knowledge of Contracts or Service Level Agreements to be able to analyze the associated information and provide advice to stakeholders or Manager.
  • Requires experience handling multiple tasks while adhering to stringent deadlines and status tracking.
  • Requires ability to perform independent process and/or audit reviews and presenting findings to key stakeholders.
  • Requires experience in working effectively with a wide range of people as well as the ability to work independently.
  • Requires a sound knowledge of the theories and principles relating to business methods, processes, operations, including computerized applications associated with a modern business environment.
  • Requires experience creating and producing reports using various tools, such as SAP, BI, Excel, Sharepoint, locate management software (TelDig), etc.
  • Requires extensive data analysis experience using various tools to identify trends, opportunities, provide status updates, etc.
  • Requires experience monitoring organizational performance, using a variety of diagnostic tools, and working in change management initiatives to secure organizational alignment and improved performance.
  • Requires basic understanding of the electrical distribution system and associated components/equipment.
  • Basic understanding of GIS systems would be beneficial.
  • This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the completion of 4 years of University training (Grade XII plus 5 years).
