Job Description

29th Street Market is a medium-sized family-owned grocery store in Battleford, SK! We are looking to add a friendly and hard-working member to our team! This position is for a part-time (2-3 shifts a week) cashier/grocery clerk. Typical shifts are from 2pm-10pm or 4pm/5pm-10pm. (Weekend availability preferred).Since we have a smaller team, each team member is expected to fulfill both cashier and grocery clerk roles.Responsibilities of Cashier/Grocery Clerk:

  • Accurately processing transactions (accurate scanning of merchandise, issuing correct change, accurate handling of cash, correctly processing debit/credit cards, etc.)
  • Bagging or boxing merchandise for customers
  • Responsible and accurate selling of Lottery and Tobacco products
  • Safe and accurate restocking of product shelves (produce, pop, chips, milk, bread, etc.)
  • Assist customers in taking groceries to their vehicles, upon request
  • Fulfilling daily housekeeping tasks (sweeping/mopping floors, dusting items, keeping products front-facing and organized, sanitizing commonly touched surfaces, etc.)
  • Keeping workspace clean and organized
Qualifications for Cashiers/Grocery Clerks
  • Some cashier experience (preferred)
  • Available to work afternoons/evenings
  • Ability to safely lift boxes that weigh up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to engage in repetitive hand movements, stand in similar positions for long periods of time
  • Ability to frequently move from a bent position to standing position to unpack boxes
  • Attention to detail, ability to maintained focus
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently in slower paced environments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Motivated to maintain high standards in completing repetitive daily tasks
  • Basic math skills
