Resource Maintenance Supervisor - PAR003134Employment Type: Permanent Full-timeLocation(s): SK-North West-The Battlefords Provincial ParkMinistry: 027 Parks Culture and SportSalary Range: $5,825-$7,574 MonthlyGrade: MCP.05.The Ministry of Parks, Culture & Sport strategic focus is on quality of life and economic growth, and we do this by working with diverse groups and communities to enhance the province’s cultural, artistic, recreational and social life. We promote excellence in the arts, culture, heritage and sport and support vibrant and growing arts, cultural and French communities. The ministry also manages and enhances Saskatchewan’s provincial parks system and the Royal Saskatchewan Museum, conserving ecosystems and cultural resources and providing recreational and interpretive opportunities for visitors.The Parks Division is currently seeking a dynamic and highly motivated individual who is a flexible team player for the position of Resource Maintenance Supervisor for The Battlefords Provincial Park within the Park Division. Reporting to the Park Manager, this position is an integral member of the Park Management team and is responsible for:

  • All park maintenance operations including supervision;
  • Supervising contractors operating in the park;
  • Maintenance and repair of all infrastructure;
  • Procurement of equipment;
  • Landfill environmental standards;
  • Ground maintenance and landscaping (including ATV operation, trail grooming, pesticide and herbicide application); and
  • Oversight of the water treatment plants, etc.
The ideal candidate is expected to have:
  • Knowledge and experience with Occupational Health and Safety Standards (OH&S), Workplace Hazardous Material Information Systems (WHMIS), and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG);
  • Knowledge of financial management and human resource management;
  • Knowledge and ability to operate and maintain a wide variety of park facilities and equipment (i.e., use of power tools, experience with equipment operation, plumbing (shower buildings and fixtures) and carpentry;
  • Hold a valid Class 1 Water Treatment and Distribution Certification and Class 1 Wastewater Treatment and Collection Certification or be able to obtain within 6 months of service;
  • Strong leadership, coaching skills and communication skills; and
  • Strong judgement and discretion, problem solving and decision-making skills.
Typically, the successful candidate will have several years of supervisory or management experience and the knowledge for this position would be gained through a combination of experience and/or education.The successful candidate will typically spend 60% of their time in the office and 40% in the field. There may be travel required away from headquarters on an occasional basis and the successful candidate may need to be available to work occasional weekends, evenings, or statutory holidays.What we offer:
