Job Description

29th Street Market is a medium-sized family-owned grocery store in Battleford, SK!We are looking to add friendly and hard-working individuals to our team! We currently have several positions to be filled.We are looking for a few new Cashier/Grocery Clerks!Since our cashiers work directly with our customers, we value great customer service skills and attention to detail. Working as a cashier you will get to meet and serve many members of our community. You will also get to develop soft skills, work with a POS system and learn the lottery system.Typical shifts for Cashier/Grocery Clerks are: 2pm-10pm, 4pm-10pm, or 5pm-10pm (start times may vary).Since we have a smaller team, cashiers complete some grocery clerk tasks in addition to cashier tasks.Responsibilities of Cashier/Grocery Clerks:

  • Accurately processing transactions (scanning merchandise, handling cash, issuing change, processing debit/credit transactions)
  • Bagging and/or boxing merchandise for customers
  • Responsible and accurate selling of Lottery and Tobacco products
  • Safe and accurate restocking of some product shelves (pop, candy, etc.)
  • Assist customers in taking groceries to their vehicles, upon request
  • Fulfilling daily housekeeping tasks (sweeping/mopping, dusting, keeping products front-facing and organized, sanitizing commonly-touched surfaces, etc.)
  • Keeping workspace clean and organized
Qualifications for Cashier/Grocery Clerks:
  • Some cashier experience (preferred)
  • Available to work afternoons and/or evenings
  • Ability to safely lift boxes that weigh up to 30-40 pounds
  • Ability to engage in repetitive hand movements, stand in similar positions for long periods of time
  • Ability to frequently move from a bending position to a standing position (e.g., to unpack boxes, reach items on the bottom shelf)
  • Attention to detail, ability to maintain focus
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently in slower-paced environments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Motivated to maintain high standards in completing repetitive daily tasks
  • Basic math skills
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, PermanentSchedule:
  • Evening shift
