For further information about the Saskatchewan Courts and the Court of Queens Bench go to http://www.sasklawcourts.ca/As Deputy Local Registrar, you will uphold the dignity of the court by providing support and assistance to the Court of Queens Bench Judges. Using your superior communication and interpersonal skills, you will assist the legal profession, legal secretaries, court runners and the general public when working in the Registry Office.You will receive, process and register legal documents for legal cases such as family, civil, criminal and estate litigations, ensuring all documentation comply with the Rules of Court for Saskatchewan, various federal and provincial Statutes and the Canadian Criminal Code.As a confident professional, you are responsible for convening and adjourning court. You will maintain accurate court records, mark exhibits, swear in witnesses and operate digital recording equipment. You will prepare documents such as exhibit lists, hearing fee sheets, digital log notes, judges orders and decisions. In criminal matters, you will arraign the accused and take pleas and empanel the jury. Following court, you will be responsible for the preparation, approval and distribution of a variety of post court documents, ensuring legislative compliance. Using shorthand or speed writing, you must accurately record judges decisions and respond to questions related to fiats.To be successful in this position you must have outstanding communication skills and exceptional organizational skills and be thorough with the ability to pay close attention to detail. You will provide assistance and information in response to general inquiries using tact and diplomacy and you will determine and collect the correct fees for filing court documents. Confidentiality and accuracy is paramount in this position. You must be culturally aware in order to respectfully assist clients and colleagues of various cultures.You will be required to climb ladders to retrieve files and carry heavy boxes up to 20 kg that contain files and documents.The successful candidate will have knowledge of the justice system as it pertains to the various levels of court, legal terminology, Acts, Regulations, policies, protocols and court procedures as they apply to the Court of Queens Bench. The knowledge and skills would typically be acquired through experience in a court and/or legal environment. On occasion, you may be required to travel to various locations within the province.The environment in which you will work is potentially hostile, thus, you must be able to recognize volatile situations and react appropriately. You will be required to climb ladders to retrieve files and carry heavy boxes that contain files and documents.
