Park Maintenance Worker - PAR002958Employment Type: Labour Service (seasonal)Location(s): SK-North West-The Battlefords Provincial ParkMinistry: 027 Parks Culture and SportSalary Range: $19.501-$24.440 HourlyGrade: SGEU.03.The Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport’s mission is to enhance economic growth and support quality of life by managing the provincial parks system and providing recreation, sport, heritage and cultural opportunities for residents and visitors. The Ministry is currently seeking dynamic and highly motivated individuals who are flexible team players for the position of Park Maintenance Worker for provincial park lands within The Battlefords Provincial Park of Saskatchewan Parks Service. Reporting to the Supervisor, this position will be involved in the maintenance program.As a Park Maintenance Worker you will perform a variety of repair and general maintenance activities on buildings and grounds. You will operate light to medium equipment such as light trucks, riding mower, skid steer, power tools and other equipment as directed. You will perform janitorial and sanitation functions, pick up and disposal of garbage and debris. You will assist with maintenance and care of park facilities and grounds. You will also assist with the monitoring and inspection of the water systems and sewer systems under the direction of the supervisor. This position involves frequent lifting, carrying and moving supplies and equipment. You will comply with risk management standards, OH&S, Public Health Regulations, WHMIS, TDG regulations. You must possess a current valid Driver’s Licence and be available to work on weekends. This position may be required to supervise staff.The successful candidates will have knowledge of basic cleaning methods (materials, equipment and methods commonly used in housekeeping/janitorial and sanitation activities); safe equipment and building operation, maintenance and minor repair. You will have knowledge of WHMIS and OH&S Regulations.The successful candidates will have experience and ability to perform building and/or park maintenance, using common hand tools and light equipment. You will have the ability to work independently and/or as a contributing member of a park team to complete work assignments and contribute towards a positive working environment. You will also have the ability to respond accurately, clearly and courteously to inquiries from the general public.
