Job Description

The Arbor Stone Manor Limited, is a professional construction business with locations in Bedford, NS. We provide services relating to carpentry, masonry, and other construction-related services.Our location at Bedford is seeking a qualified and experienced Carpenter (NOC 7271) to do carpentry and masonry-related tasks as required. This is a 3-year position.Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
  • Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
  • Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding and hardware
  • Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments
  • Cut and trim bricks and concrete blocks to specification using hand and power tools
  • Prepare and lay bricks, concrete blocks, stone, structural tiles and similar materials to construct or repair walls, foundations and other structures in residential, industrial and commercial instruction
· Lay bricks, stone or similar materials to provide veneer facing to walls or other surfaces· May restore, clean or paint existing masonry structures.
  • Supervise apprentices and other construction workers
  • May prepare cost estimates for clients.
Requirements:
  • Completion of secondary school (high school) required.
  • Completed of secondary school related to carpentry or masonry is considered an asset.
  • Completion of a three- to four-year apprenticeship program or a combination of over four years of work experience in the trade is considered an asset.
  • English language skills are required.
Hours: This is a 3-year position for 40 hours per week.Salary: The qualified applicant will be paid $23/hour.Benefits: Vacation days (2 weeks per calendar year)Location: The location of work is Bedford, Nova Scotia.Job Type: Full-timeSalary: $22.50-$23.00 per hourSchedule:
