For life.Our Bedford manufacturing facility produces Innovasea marine electronic products used by researchers worldwide in their quest to understand aquatic animal behavior, and innovative environmental monitoring and control products used in the aquaculture industry. Our Production team contributes to our company’s success through advanced manufacturing methods, teamwork, and a commitment to operational excellence.Role and ResponsibilitiesWe are seeking a full-time Electronic Technician.Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Electronic Technician will build products and support a low volume high mix production line to manufacture Innovasea products. The Electronic Technician must have a strong problem-solving aptitude and work well within a team environment.

  • Provide support to the low volume high mix production Line:
    • Provide hands on technical support in a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment.
    • Quickly repair jigs and fixtures.
    • Work with the Technical Writer to develop and review Production manuals and SOPs.
    • Build products, cables, and assemblies.
    • PCB testing and troubleshooting as required.
    • Help develop and validate new processes.
    • Review orders prior to shipping.
    • Assist with pressure testing.
    • Assist with incoming inspection of PCBs, machined parts, and other assemblies.
    • Review ‘Bill of Materials’ and drawings to ensure inventory accuracy.
    • Identify areas for improvement. This could include cost reductions, capacity increases, 5S/organization, quality improvements, inventory reduction etc.
    • Other duties as assigned to ensure Production targets are met.
  • Work with our Production Engineering group to help move new products into production line.
  • Follow best practices and ensure that safety is built into our standard operating procedures and equipment.
  • Assist with the investigation and resolution of production issues involving parts, processes, and equipment:
    • Collection and analysis of production data.
    • Investigation of production articles through measurement, calculation, and observational analysis.
    • Perform root cause analysis on non-conforming product.
    • New product/process trials and qualifications.
    • Use JIRA and Confluence to document.
    • Work with Production Engineering to bring new equipment online.
  • Assist with QA testing programs.
  • Initiate continuous improvement projects and process changes.
  • Participate in professional development programs, obtain/maintain relevant certifications
Required Skills and Experience
  • Experience in electronic manufacturing or electronic design.
  • Troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be an effective communicator and have strong writing skills.
EducationCandidates are required to have completed an Electronic Engineering Technician or Technologist diploma program.Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Data analysis and reporting
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and how to apply it in real situations
  • Manufacturing automation experience
  • Some knowledge/familiarity with automated testing, control, and programming is an asset.
  • Intermediate to Advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite and Windows 10.
  • Basic Syspro/ERP experience is an asset.
