This vision informs our day-to-day operations and provides a philosophy that revolves around person-focused supports, strength-based approaches, and community-oriented learning opportunities.Autism Nova Scotia delivers programming in Halifax and in nine communities across Nova Scotia through our Regional Autism Centers. Our three program divisions are: Social & Community Inclusion; Employment Support; and Family and Caregiver Support.EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM FACILITATOR  Term: Full-time, 40 hours per week (Will include evenings and weekends as needed) Start Date:  August 2022Position location: Bedford, Nova ScotiaSalary: TBDApplication deadline: 4:30 pm, July 29th, 2022Competition # 2022-069What you’ll be doing…Autism Nova Scotia is seeking passionate, committed professionals to join its employment team. As an Employment Program Facilitator, you will be an important part of Autism Nova Scotia’s innovative Employment Team, supporting the delivery of key programs and supports for autistic individuals who are seeking or are in employment.   The Employment Program Facilitators may assist in connecting individuals to supports in communities, and always assist and support through the provision of individualized support through skills development programs and innovative employment coaching supports.   This is an exciting opportunity to work with a regional and national leader, and as part of a broader wrap-around supports and programming team that helps autistic individuals reach their goals and responds to the individual needs of any job seeker or employee on the autism spectrum.  What we’re looking for… A passionate, team player who takes personal accountability to deliver on what is expected in their role and who strives for excellence every day. They think broadly, have a drive to transform lives, help change attitudes and create a society that work for autistic people.You must have:Minimum qualifications:

  • A Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in a related field accepted
  • Clear, current Criminal Records Check and Child Abuse Registry Search is required
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certification is considered an asset
  • Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification is considered an asset  
Minimum experience:
  • Knowledge and experience working with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities, and/or experience in supported employment  
  • Experience in program coordination or facilitation is considered an asset
Minimum skills and ability:   
  • Ability to support adults in an employment setting
  • Passionate about inclusion in the workplace
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team  
  • Resourcefulness in solving problems  
  • Strong organizational skills, analytical skills and keen attention to detail 
  • Strong time management skills
  • Demonstrate an understanding of some of the barriers people on the spectrum face in accessing meaningful employment  
  • Strong communication and outreach skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products   
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Report to Coordinators in the employment department or Employment Program Manager  
  • Facilitate the development of skills with autistic jobseekers participating in pre-employment programs, including EmploymentWorks, LaunchPad, Community Leadership and employment coaching
  • Accurately collect data and work to meet program outcomes
  • Assist with preparation, planning, and implementation of programs to enhance participants’ employability skills  
  • Assist with mock and direct interview and other employment coaching supports  
  • Collaborate with local community employment agencies and other disability support providers  
  • Help individuals navigate to achieve their employment goals, and connect to community based and governmental supports  
  • Collaborate and consult with colleagues to ensure exceptional support is delivered
  • Role will involve some work outside of standard business hours  
  • Other duties as required  
Essential and Other Related Job Duties:
  • A valid Driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for travel
