Located in Bedford, this clinic is a short commute to downtown Halifax and a reasonable commute to downtown Dartmouth. This practice consists of five other Family Physicians, one Geriatrician and one Sports Medicine Physician. General Internal Medicine and Sports Medicine physicians provide consults for patients who are part of the clinic every 1-2 months within the clinic. This opportunity comes with an existing patient roster and offers an option to initially locum in the role in the event that this could be of interest to you.ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include but are not limited to:Examine patients and take their histories, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures; advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease preventionConsultation and referral to other medical practitioners’Act as a patient’s advocatePrescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinationsReport births, deaths, contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirementsExpected HoursFull-timeLocum to permanent option availableQualificationsEligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)Community DetailsBedford is a suburban community of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. It was an independent town from 1980 to 1996. Bedford is on the northwestern end of Bedford Basin, an extension of the Halifax Harbour, which ends just before Nova Scotia Highway 102 and the Bedford Bypass, next to Lower Sackville. There is a popular walkway along much of the Bedford Basin waterfront that begins at DeWolf park, and continues as the Bedford-Sackville Connector Greenway, a crushed gravel covered trail that meanders along the Sackville River. There is an outdoor 25m pool and smaller splash pool located at the Lions Park on Shore Drive. In the summer there are numerous lakes suitable for swimming. The topography of the area limits the possible locations for soccer and football fields. The community is currently home to six ice surfaces.
