Our three program divisions are: Social & Community Inclusion; Employment Support; and Family and Caregiver Support.Human Resources AssistantTerm: Full-time (40 hours per week)Start Date: August 2022Position location: Bedford, NSSalary: TBDApplication deadline: 4:30 pm, August 3, 2022Competition # 2022-071What you’ll be doing…The HR Assistant provides support, advice, and guidance, working with all levels of staff to build respectful working relationships, organizational efficiencies, and employee development.   • Completion of Post Secondary Education (preferably in Human Resources from a recognized institution) or equivalent experience accepted
  • A clear, current Criminal Background Check, and Child Abuse Registry Search is required
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certification is required 
  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention Certification is considered an asset 
Minimum experience:
  • 1- 3 years in a Human Resources and/or administrative position
  • Previous experience and Knowledge of Legislation and employment standards in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick with relation to employment standards, etc.
Minimum skills and ability:
  • Intermediate skills with use of the Microsoft Office Suite, specifically ADP WorkForce Now
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage a fluctuating workload and set priorities to meet deadlines
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently, but also experienced in working effectively as a member of a team, which includes internal and external stakeholders
  • Attention to detail for accurate data entry
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters related to employee compensation and benefits
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Ensure job postings are created, posted & maintained in a timely manner
  • Candidate references are completed, and notes shared with hiring manager
  • All steps in the hiring process are complete and new hire files are created (electronic & paper)
  • Perform screening calls and attend interviews with managers
  • Ensure compliance with Employment Standard in all HR practices
  • Respond to requests for support with HR process
  • Adapt current processes to align with the future needs of the organization
  • Support projects, initiatives of the organization and day-to-day operations as required
  • Tracks & monitors expiration dates; Criminal Background Search (CBC), Child Abuse Registry (CAR) & First Aid Certification
  • Supports HR Manager in coordinating training (Assist/First Aid), and submission of CBC, CAR
  • Assist the Human Resources team in employee/leadership projects when required
  • Respond to HR admin requests (i.e., confirmation of employment for employee mortgage/loan applications)
  • Assist new hires with ADP log in (once payroll has been set up)
  • Assist HR Manager with employee relations issues and assist the Senior Directors with workplace investigations
  • Participate in Occupational Health and Safety initiatives
  • Provide input and support towards HR initiatives, programs, and procedures/processes
  • Working with discretion regarding sensitive and confidential information
  • Other duties, relevant to the position, shall be assigned as required
Essential and Other Related Job Duties:
  • A valid Nova Scotia Drivers License and use of a reliable vehicle
