Job Description

Our Distribution Centre prepares orders for clients in Halifax and beyond every day. In this role you will play an integral role in ensuring its success by overseeing and assisting in various activities in a warehouse setting.Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise the accurate and timely processing of all Wholesale orders from the initial receipt of the order, the separation and ordering of retail-store items, the picking of all orders with an emphasis on quality control, the proper packing and labelling of all orders, auditing of orders and invoices, building each run as well as building the necessary pallets as prescribed by the order of off-loading.
  • Assist with ensuring orders are shipped to all customers in a timely manner, in adherence to delivery schedules and oversee the process to invoice all customers for products shipped.
  • Lead in all efforts to acquire new customers and build/maintain strong, lasting relationships with existing customers in order to increase/ maintain sales.
  • Assist the DC and Produce Operations Manager, maintain strict control over inventory levels and quality of products and manage shrink reports.
  • Provide respectful and co-operational supervision to the members of the Wholesale Order Selector Team.
  • Professional and helpful interaction with all customers, internal and external delivery drivers, couriers and suppliers.
  • Maintain records of out-of-stocks for each shift to be reported to the Director of Produce Procurement.
  • Oversee and report on return processes for poor quality or damaged orders as well as shortages on the truck or other reasons for credit or charge.
  • Assist in maintaining warehouse equipment in safe and acceptable working condition and ensure staff adhere to safety standards of the DC.
  • Recommend improvements to existing order fulfillment processes and procedures.
  • Oversee the work schedule and maintain proper staffing levels at all times in accordance with business demands. Ensure all hours of work are properly accounted for in the Dayforce system.
  • Supervise and ensure the delivery of any necessary staff training.
  • Be an active member of the Occupational Health and Safety Committee at the DC and attend regular meetings.
  • Assist with the observance of proper housekeeping standards in the DC, both interior and exterior, ensuring that the warehouse and cooler and the office are all left ready at the end of each shift for the start of the next shift – clean, organized and ready for re-use without the need for clean-up first.
  • Complete the Daily Wholesale Order Selection Team Checklist at the end of each shift.
  • Assist with investigation and report on causes of lost or damaged shipments and other order fulfillment issues.
Qualifications:
  • This position requires a flexible, entrepreneurial spirit, capable of finding solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Display an enthusiastic, friendly attitude and ability to work cooperatively with cross functional teams.
  • 3 years of direct work experience within a Wholesale environment.
  • Basic Microsoft Office knowledge including Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of warehouse documentation.
  • Knowledge of equipment and warehouse safety standards
  • Ability to interpret and act upon detailed instructions.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Good written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization team.
  • Team leadership and teambuilding abilities.
  • Good conflict resolution skills, diplomacy, and tact.
  • Certified forklift and pallet jack operator
  • Experience in grocery and/or produce industry an asset
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Ability to lift up to 100lbs
