Travel expenses reimbursed according to VCH policy.BCIT Emergency Nursing Specialty ProgramBCIT On-site Orientation Day: November 23, 2023Online Prerequisites (if required): December 4, 2023 - March 25, 20244 BCIT Workshop Days: December 4, 5, 7amp; 8, 2023Full-time training at BCITamp; practicum locations: April 8, 2024 - end date to be determined by BCIT*course dates will be modified based on previous courses completed, VCH only funds for required courses.Applicants must successfully complete the post-basic training education prior to working in the Department.Candidates accepting this training opportunity agree to remain with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a regular status nurse in the area of nursing applicable to the education program for which they are hired for at least 18 months subsequent to completing training.This will ensure that candidates are able to consolidate and apply skills in the specialty area that VCH has supported and funded candidates to complete. Apply today to join our team!As a Registered Nurse you will:- Provide nursing care to patients/clients on the inpatient ward.- Provide nursing care to predominantly older residents in a continuing care setting.- Provide emergency nursing care to patients/clients of all ages presenting to the emergency department with a wide variety of symptoms.- Enhance quality of life from the perspective of the client/resident/patient and/or family.- Consult, confer, and collaborate with other health care providers.- Demonstrate continuous improvement and best practice approach in your nursing practice.- Demonstrate expertise and leadership in your nursing practice.- Maintain and advance your own clinical competence.- Participate on designated committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.ABOUT BELLA COOLA, BCBella Coola sits in a mountain valley at the head of the North Bentinck Channel, 500 km north of Vancouver, with a population of about 1800 people. The community is at the end of a long, truly magnificent fjord, on the mainland coast of British Columbia. Bella Coola General Hospital has 10 acute bed, 5 long term care beds and a 3 bed emergency department open 24/7, along with a laboratory, diagnostic imaging services, Telehealth, Mental Health, Public Health, Homeamp; Community Support Services. Also within the hospital are a medical clinic and a pharmacy.The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
