SPECIALIZED INSTRUCTOR – AQUATIC ADVANCED LEADERSHIP INSTRUCTOR File Number: SV24-90Number of Positions: 1 (One)Position Type: Temporary Part Time Hourly Rate: $32.04 – 34.65/hourHours of Work: Varied hours; including evenings and weekendsDepartment: Community Services DepartmentEmployee Group: Administrative GroupWork Location: Quinte Sports and Wellness CentreClosing Date: Open Until Filled PURPOSE AND SCOPE:As a member of the Community Services Department, this position prepares lesson plans, provides quality instruction, evaluation and completes administrative tasks for their assigned programs/classes in their designated area(s) of expertise.KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Represent the City of Belleville in a professional manner with appropriate
  • actions and conduct by following all of the Staff Policies and Procedures set out
  • by the Department.
  • Responsible for the safety and supervision of the participants by following all rules and regulations set out by the Department and/or outside organizations.
  • Must be knowledgeable of City Programs and have strong public relation skills.
  • Responsible for providing instruction and leadership for your designated program.
  • Responsible for on-going evaluations and feedback of the programs to the Recreation Programmer.
  • Responsible for the completion of attendance and any required paperwork to effectively administrate this program as per the Department Procedures.
  • Assume the responsibility for assessing and responding in an emergency situation and completing the necessary reports.
  • Provide to the participants excellent customer service including management of conflict through effective problem solving and communication skills.
  • Ensure all program areas are properly supplied with equipment, paperwork, and any other supplies that may be required for programs.
  • This position is responsible for keeping any required certifications current.
  • Attend all Training and staff meetings as scheduled.

  • High school, college, or university graduate.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR#39;C #39; Certification from a WSIB recognized organization.
  • Current Lifesaving Instructor certification from the Lifesaving Society
Asset Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline
WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum Required Experience:
  • Previous experience in the related discipline.
  • Previous experience teaching in the assigned discipline.
  • Excellent customer service skills and problem solving skills.
