Job Description

Job DescriptionWe are currently seeking a qualified Electricalamp; Instrumentation Field Specialist/Engineer, to join our Construction team, based out of Bethune, SK. The Electricalamp; Instrumentation Field Specialist/Engineer (FE) will be responsible for ensuring the relevant aspects of construction meets design intent. The FE will work with the design team, plant operations, the owner and construction to ensure work completed meets design requirements.Bantrel is working with K+S Potash (KSPC) as an Integrated Project Management Team (IPMT), to expand the KSPC Bethune Potash Mine in near Moose Jaw Saskatchewan from 2.2 to 3.0M tonnes per annum over the next 5 years. The final production capacity is intended to grow over decades to 4M tonnes per year, doubling the current production output of potash. Key personnel will support the project from Saskatoon and Bethune, with additional support staff supporting from Calgary, Edmonton, and Toronto. {NTD: Site hours / shift rotation options required from project}This position is based in Bethune, SK. The shift is Monday to Thursday, 10-hour days.While the preference is to hire a candidate who resides locally, relocation assistance may be available based on eligibility.Join us in this full time permanent role and be a champion of diversity and inclusion.Dutiesamp; Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for conformance to design, quality control, quality assurance and progress measurement and progress verification of constructed work.
  • Review and disposition of submittals from sub-contractors and where necessary coordination of input from other disciplines / functions on project to consolidate a response to a submittal.
  • Support development of project procedures including brown field specific procedures where required to perform work safely adjacent to existing operations.
  • Facilitate coordination meetings between design team, operations and contractors for tie-in and work package interface detailing.
  • Perform field Inspections to verify quality and contractor claimed progress.
  • Sign applicable check sheets upon completion of field inspection.
  • Conduct Contractors Quality Surveillances and record findings.
  • Attend weekly progress, quality and safety meetings, as required.
  • Prepare Field Sketches for Temporary Facilities when required.
  • Perform walkdowns with the Contractors and project stakeholders upon completion of specific field activities and initiate a punch list.
  • Conducts walkdowns to verify closure of punch items and records closure in the project data management system.
  • Review of Turnover Documentation from the Contractors
  • Review and endorse (or reject) installed quantities issued by the Contractors on a weekly basis.
  • Originates and track to completion the following: Technical Queries (TQs), Field Change Notices (FCNs), Field Change Reports (FCRs), Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
  • Communicates design changes to construction.
  • Coordinates proposed design changes with construction and the Engineer of Record (EoR) and submits to the EoR for formal approval.
  • Maintains project data management systems as assigned to facilitate accurate project reporting.
  • Review turnover documentation submitted by sub-contractors and compiles turnover documentation for self performed work.
  • Confirms all minimum maintenance and inspection activities are completed for electricalamp; instrumentation components.
  • Participates in the site risk, constructability and safety in design reviews as required.
  • Generates reports as required on electricalamp; instrumentationengineering deliverables, execution, and turnover
  • Specify the electrical criteria for the construction of temporary construction facilities as required. 
  • Operates day-to-day, ensuring that activities are prioritized in line with assigned goals and project Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
  • Completes all assigned training and supports development of peers and direct reports through knowledge sharing and coaching.
  • Promotes a collaborative and productive culture based on Bantrel Mission and Values.
  • Additional duties as required
