Job Description

Position Summary:The Assistant Manager will report to and work closely and collaboratively with the Fertilizer Plant Manager. The Assistant Manager will oversee and direct the work of the operations team, and also play a support role in the daily operations of the plant and logistics of our new state of art fertilizer facility.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate incoming and outgoing loads with retail locations, 3rd parties and custom application division
  • Oversee and direct the work of the operations team to ensure all procedures are being adhered to, and in collaboration with the Plant Manager, ensure consistent buy-in of fertilizer operations team
  • Closely monitor and accurately track inventory, and ensure all data is entered into the accounting system within rigorous company procedures
  • Ensure all safety regulations and documentation are completed in an accurate and timely manner
  • Build client loyalty through collaborative solutions that meet customer needs and also maximize customer productivity and efficiency
  • Cross-train with the Manager duties to ensure sufficient coverage in all areas and requirements of the facility at all times
  • Other duties as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of experience in a position within the agricultural industry, with a focus on operations
  • Hands-on experience in a high paced, procedure-focused work environment
  • Experience with modern fertilizer facility practices and methods is preferred
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, exceptional communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills are necessary to ensure adherence to location procedures
  • Ability to work closely with all levels of staff and management
  • Proficient in the use of computers and software including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Technical understanding of the agricultural fertilizer industry and plant operations
  • Familiar with The Rack as a company along with products/services available
  • Must live in or near the town of Biggar SK
