Job Description

Jowett Farms Corporation is a growing, family-run company with a great work environment located in Blumenort, Manitoba. We offer a comprehensive employee benefit program, employee referral program, and an employee discount purchase program.We are excited to be adding a QUALITY ASSURANCE TECHNICIAN to our team. This is a part time position Monday to Friday 1:00pm to 5:00pm. The QA Technician maintains, implements, and assesses the food safety system. The QA Technician reports to the Quality Assurance Manager.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Food Safety and Animal Welfare compliance throughout the plant to ensure adherence to written SOPs by both employees and visitors.
  • Use, maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment.
  • Perform tests on products, food chemicals, and non-food chemicals.
  • Plan, conduct and monitor product sampling and inspection, record & report sample results.
  • Perform reviews & verification of all food safety & QA documentation.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly monitoring of all prerequisite programs.
  • Identify and address food safety issues as they occur on the production floor.
  • Assist in Employee training, including Standard Operating Practices, GMP, HACCP, Animal Welfare Control Program (AWCP) on new employees and re-training of existing employees.
  • File and maintain training records.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Strong analytical and mathematics skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to develop and maintain supportive work relationships
  • Proven problem solving & decision-making skills
  • Ability to speak, read & write English
  • 1-2 years Quality inspection, auditing and testing experience an asset
  • Knowledge of GMPs and HACCP an asset
  • Knowledge of Global Food Safety Initiative an asset
  • Knowledge of Animal Welfare an asset
Working Environment:
  • Tasks may involve standing, lifting, crouching etc. for extended periods of time
  • Work in a cool/wet and/or warm/wet environment
