Job DescriptionJob SummaryThe pharmacy assistant/technician assists the pharmacist in fulfilling prescriptions, welcoming patients and dispensing medication. He or she must provide unparalleled customer care.Responsibilities and Duties*Responsibilities

  • Provide service to patients
  • Welcome patients in a professional and considerate manner
  • Comply with legal intervention limits regarding patients and confidentiality
  • Respond to telephone cals and record information regarding prescription refills. Filter all other calls
*Work Methods
  • Collect all relevant patient information. Create and update patient records on the computer.
  • Enter and renew prescriptions on the computer
  • Prepare the packaging of prescriptions by counting pills and applying labels and appropriate precautions on the vials
  • Record purchases on the e-terminal and handle cash, credit card, and debit payments, where applicable
  • Transfer claims to insurers and settle various problems regarding these claims
*Merchandise Control
  • Identify the merchandise needs and prepare orders for suppliers
  • Verify the content of the merchandise on delivery. Verify this content against the invoice and purchase orders
  • Place the products in the proper location and ensure the rotation of medication according to expiration dates and established protocols
Qualifications and Skills
  • Minimum qualification: High school diploma
  • Preference will be given to registered Pharmacy Technicians
  • Previous experience as a Pharmacy Assistant considered an asset
  • Pharmacy technical assistance vocational diploma considered an asset
  • Mathematical skills
  • Able to work with an e-terminal system
  • Must be able to multi-task and problem solve in a timely manner
  • Must be a team-player but also able to work independently when required
  • Previous experience with Specialty Compounding considered an asset
  • Preference will be given to bilingual candidates
