Job Description

We have been building quality structures since 1958 as part of the J.D. Irving, Limited group of businesses. Kent Homes Limited consists of three distinct business units: Kent Commercial, Kent Mobile Shelters, and the residential home division, Kent Homes. Located in Bouctouche, New Brunswick we build top quality homes and offices year-round.We are currently looking to add a SAFETY ADVISOR to our team and to lead our safety programs. As the successful applicant, you will thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic and collaborative work environment. You will have a passion for safety education and you will foster a culture of prevention and continuous improvement related to Health and Safety.Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with the NB Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and JDI Safety standards
  • Support and lead the business with the following:
Safety coaching for employees and managersWorking closely with Disability ManagementManaging the return-to-work processManaging H & S programsLead members of the JOHS CommitteeConduct new hire Orientations for employees and contractorsActively lead and manage investigationsMaking recommendations for continuous improvement of our systems and programsEnsure that policies and procedures are being adhered toComplete required training with employees and ensure accurate record keepingComplete Regulatory auditsQualifications:
  • Post-secondary degree in Safety or related discipline would be an asset
  • 5 or more years of relevant Health and Safety experience
  • Bilingual - proficient with writing and speaking English and French, considered an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the NB Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Experience leading change in an organization
  • Completion of, or commitment to complete New Brunswick Construction Safety - Association COR training
  • Completion of, or commitment to complete First Aid training
  • Ability to facilitate training, and conduct effective presentations
