St Martha #39;s has a close-knit department of Obstetricians, and receives delivery of more than 350 newborns per year, with excellent, on-site Pediatric newborn coverage and is the regional acute care facility serving residents of Antigonish, Guysborough, and Strait-Richmond Counties. Obstetricians have good access to the OR and collegial surgical colleagues. Call will be 1:5 after hiring. SMRH offers a wide range of primary and secondary services through inpatient, outpatient, and community-based services and programs. The emergency department is staffed by family medicine physicians with emergency medicine certification. Low-risk maternity services are provided by midwives, family physicians and obstetricians. Obstetrics is supported by our on-site laboratory, diagnostic imaging and colleagues in many specialties with access to our tertiary care colleagues in all subspecialties at the IWK in Halifax.Funding Model: APPSalary range: $400, 000 - 450,000 Responsibilities ResponsibilitiesFull scope of practice as an Obstetrician/Gynecologist providing care to patients at the St Martha #39;s Regional Hospital in Antigonish.The individual will operate within the Medical Staff Bylaws of the Nova Scotia Health Authority as part of the in-hospital care provided.You will provide service deliverables to meet the needs of the community of practice, in particular:

  • That you will participate equitably in the on-call requirements of the Division, Department, program or services as set by the Zone Department Head;
  • That you are available to respond to urgent matters while working or on call. This means that during regular work and scheduled call hours, you must be able to reach the hospital within 20 minutes of being called.
