StackTeck supplies a wide range of injection molds and IML automation used to produce plastic parts in applications such as caps, closures, medical, PET preforms, and thinwall packaging; as well as complete system integrations including IML. StackTeck has dedicated R amp;D, testing and part sampling facilities, in addition to plastic part design, prototyping, engineering, and manufacturing capabilities. StackTeck Systems Ltd. is located 8 km north of Toronto’s Pearson International Airport.SUMMARY: The position of Mold Designer Trainee supports senior, intermediate and junior designers in 3D modeling mold components and detailing drawings for manufacturing.This is all done while continually learning all aspects of mold designing. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • 3D modeling of mold components, hot runner components, standard components
  • 2D detailing of drawings for mold components, hot runner components, standard components
  • Interaction with purchasing/manufacturing/CAM/Shop liaison
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of standard and Ramp; D components
  • Adhere to StackTeck mold design standards and practices
  • Create Bill of Materials
**All mold designer trainees will attend the StackTeck Mold Design Academy, that will train the designers in the fundamentals of relevant CAD softwares as well as mold design.Graduation from the academy will take approximately 6 months. Upon successful graduation, the trainee will transfer to an engineering team and take on the Mold Designer position.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
  • College or University related background in Engineering, Sciences, Mechanics
  • Experience with 2D CAD and 3D CAD software is required (UNIGRAPHICS/NX preferred)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Previous mold design experience is an asset but not required
  • Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes is an asset
