EstimatorAbout the jobRHI Magnesita is seeking an experienced, Refractory Estimator / Invoicing in Brantford, Ontario. Under the supervision of the Head of Refractory Services, this role will be required to perform the following key task for our customers in North America:The tasks include:
  • Estimate the construction costs for a contract (materials, labor, equipment, transport, etc.) according to the required specifications.
  • Discuss the project requirements with appropriate department representatives (Healthamp; Safety Supervisor, Project Site Manager, Salesman, Construction Coordinator, Business Manager, Market Manager, etc.)
  • Prepare Quotation documents (commercial and technical aspects) which will eventually become contract documents.
  • Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings (AutoCAD)
  • Prepare a Material Take-Off according to drawings and specifications and other documents
  • Executing activities for estimation, planning, and review of technical tasks.
  • And all other related tasks associated with an estimator.
Invoicing for Construction Projects
  • Reviews all materials from the Master Job File and the Billing Instruction Sheet for accuracy and ensures that the PO is correct and matches exactly to the quotation with respect to the dollar amount and payment terms.
  • Prepare and sort all project paperwork contained in the Project Costing File for accuracy, analyze the information and audits all shipments, returns, timesheets, expenses and 3rd party invoices against the entries on the project costing sheet. Verifies and justifies any discrepancies as required on the project costing sheets.
  • Checks that all shipments and costs are posted correctly to the job, and all returns are registered on the costing sheet.
  • Prepare costing summaries and progress billings and final invoices.
  • Managing the invoicing process which includes printing the invoices, verifying the invoice data, distributing to the customers (fax, mail or e mail) and filing.
  • And all other related tasks associated at this function.
About you
  • 1-3 years Quotation / Estimation experience
  • College diploma in similar discipline is preferred
  • Technical/Industrial/Steel/Refractory background is preferred
  • English required
  • Analytical and Strategic way of reviewing situations
  • Ability to deal with shuffling priorities and multiple deadlines
  • Impeccable attention to detail and organization skills
  • Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities, and see projects through to completion
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office specifically in Excel
  • SAP and AutoCAD are preferred
