We believe in a work/life balance, and teamwork.About the position: The Brant County Health Unit (BCHU) is seeking a highly motivated candidate for a position of Health Planner to develop, monitor and evaluate public health initiatives, review research evidence, collect and assess health statistics, prepare reports and disseminate results to support decision-making processes for BCHU and its stakeholders. In addition, the Health Planner will: work with a variety of BCHU interdisciplinary teams to support program, service and process improvements; liaise with community partners, build strong working relationships between them and BCHU; provide subject-matter expertise and resource support to BCHU colleagues and stakeholders as appropriate.If you are a Health Planner that is passionate about performing meaningful work that will support a healthier community for the residents of Brantford and Brant County, we want you on our team.Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Master’s degree in public health, community health, health sciences or another related discipline
  • Knowledge and experience (at least 2 years) in the following areas: the core public health functions (health promotion, health protection, and disease prevention), project management, policy development, community assessment, systematic evidence review, public health surveillance, research methods, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, program evaluation, health communication, and continuous quality improvement
  • Certificate/training in Lean Six Sigma green belt is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated strong written/verbal communication skills, problem-solving skills, teamwork and group facilitation
  • Self-starter demonstrating initiative and with the ability to take appropriate action/direction
  • Demonstrated knowledge and decision-making skills in health assessment, knowledge and understanding of the core functions and approaches of public health practice, strong project management skills
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team setting
  • Ability to provide non-judgmental and inclusive service to all clients
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and the use of a vehicle
  • Required to have full COVID-19 immunization and are able to provide evidence of status
Terms and conditions of employment in accordance with the ONA Allied Collective Agreement. Hourly wage range: $38.37/hour – $46.40/hour, 70 hours in a two-week period.
