The Brantford Campus operates school and after school programs with the tradition and reputation for meeting the academic, personal, social, emotional and developmental needs of the students at the campus. Are you looking for an opportunity to grow professionally If so, consider this unique opportunity, where you will enjoy varied work and challenging responsibilities.What can I expect to do in this roleWhat can I expect to do in this roleIn this role you will:Perform library support services such as circulation duties.Maintain and update a computerized database.Shelving, filing and maintaining a variety of collections (i.e. books, videos, learning kits, research papers, etc.).Purchase books and learning materials and coordinate publisher sales.Locate, make available and distribute a variety of accessible formats for students who are blind or have low-visionLearn, explore and provide support and instruction for staff and students on the use of accessible technology.Provide professional-development for staff related to your work.Communicate with students, staff and families on the support and resources that the WRMS library provides.Work with students of all ages promoting an appreciation of reading, for all formats.How do I qualifySkills and Qualifications:Your background and experience enables you to meet the following requirements:You have a Library and Information Technician diploma and/or equivalent training or work experience in the library and information field.You know library processes, procedures, protocols and coding systems including the Dewey Decimal system.You have knowledge of and the ability to operate library automation software and keyboarding skills.You understand relevant purchasing policies and procedures.You can effectively communicate orally and in writing.You demonstrate organizational, time management and problem-solving skills.You can work independently and part of a team to exercise attention to detail.You have physical dexterity/mobility and ability to lift up to 7 kg.You have an interest in learning new skills related to the needs of staff and students.Additional Information:Address:1 Temporary - Seasonal, duration up to 10 months, 350 Brant Ave, Brantford, West Region, Vulnerable Sector CheckCompensation Group: Ontario Public Service Employees UnionUnderstanding the job ad - definitionsSchedule: 3.7Category: Administrative and Support ServicesPosted on: Wednesday, September 8, 2021Note:In accordance with the Ontario Public Service (OPS), Employment Screening Checks Policy (ESCP), the top candidate(s) may be required to undergo a security screening check.
