Responding to breakdowns, carrying out preventative maintenance, and other assigned work.To ensure all equipment operates safely and all plant GMP standards are met.ResponsibilitiesProactively troubleshoot and correct problems with control systems, scaling systems or any electric or electronic systems on the production equipmentConduct routine scheduled maintenance in accordance with preventative maintenance programCarry out installation and modification work - mechanical, electrical and refrigerationHazardous material handlingBe familiar with and take a lead role in emergency situationsBe observant and take initiative when a fault is detectedReport daily activitiesMaintain good housekeeping practices in your work area and in the maintenance shopCarry out repairs on equipment and buildings not associated with the production lines. (ie. cold store equipment, yard lighting, forklifts, trucks, office fittings and facilities, building fabric, etc…)Maintain and adhere to the required hygiene, safety and quality standards on the production floorOther duties as assignedAll of the above major duties and responsibilities require the ability to be mobile in an industrial environment, to communicate effectively, organize effectively, with varying degrees of independence, judgment, and discretion.Skills, Experience & QualificationsClass “B” Refrigeration license would be an assetStrong mechanical and electrical aptitudeStrong working knowledge of Siemens and Allan Bradley PLC’s and frequency drivesExperience in a food manufacturing facility would be an asset along with knowledge of food safety and HACCPTeam playerPrior involvement with Continuous Improvement projectsSelf-motivated and able to take initiativeComputer literacyFlexibility to undertake other work that may be assigned from time to time which may be outside the area of normal dutiesMust be able to work 12 hour rotating continental shift schedule (2 weeks days & 2 weeks nights)Education, Technical Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Proficiency LevelRequiredMillwright CertificationClear criminal background check (or has received a pardon)PreferredStrong mechanical / electrical aptitudePhysical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
