Tourism & Marketing Services Assistant - Job ID #1633Hours of Work Up to 24 hours Hours Per WeekJob ID # 1633 Closing Date (4:30 Oct 6, 2022 pm)Position SummaryReporting to the Manager of Tourism, Culture and Sport, the Tourism Marketing & Services Assistant is responsible for supporting the Tourism Divisions marketing and visitor services initiatives. This position is responsible for providing travel and tourism information to the general public whether in-person, operating at the TourismInformation Desk at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre, or online using a wide range of media platforms.This position is responsible for maintaining the merchandise inventory, processing sales, providing timely information to visitors and responding to inquiries by phone, email or social media. The position directly supports the visitor services portfolio by providing backup frontline coverage and delivering visitor services programs(welcome bags, motor coach program, merchandise and inventory, etc.), and will be required to work regular weekend shifts to align with tournament schedules at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre. The position will also provide marketing assistance, fulfilling duties such as website updates, social media scheduling, blog writing, e- newsletter development and ad sales.Preference will be given to those candidates with marketing experience.Qualifications2 year community college diploma in communications, business, marketing, or related fieldUnderstanding and experience of over 6 months to 1 year working with a wide range of digital marketing tools, including social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tiktok) and web-based marketing (iCreate website updates, MailChimp newsletters, etc.)Excellent writing and editing skills.Excellent customer service, communication, organization and attention to detail.Ability to work effectively in a team environment and liaise with key local tourism stakeholders.Knowledge of, and passion for, local tourism businesses in Brantford.This position works regular weekends and occasional evenings.
