Job Description

Unique Risks Ltd. is a Managing General Agent (MGA) specializing in unique, non-standard, or hard to place risk solutions. Our expertise lies in Commercial General Liability (CGL) as well as Umbrella & Excess insurance. Licensed from coast-to-coast, our goal is to find creative insurance solutions for our valued broker partners when standard markets cannot or are unwilling to accommodate a particular risk or segment.We are seeking an energetic and organized individual to join our team as an Accounting Assistant. This is a part time leading to full-time position, located in Burlington, ON, that will service brokers across Canada. Please note that given the ongoing circumstances surrounding COVID-19, this is a remote-working position until further notice.Core Responsibilities:

  • Review & check online banking on a daily basis
  • Issue statements of account for brokers
  • Follow up on outstanding premiums and respond to inquiries
  • Process payments received from brokers, apply them to the correct account and currency
  • Paying employees by receiving and verifying expense reports and approval from department head.
  • Pay insurance companies in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining historical records of all invoices, reports, receipts, and cheques
Role Skillset and Experience Required:
  • Ability to analyze data to identify issues and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently in virtual and team environment
  • Proven experience of working to deadlines and objectives
  • Ability to work repetitively and to good precision
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with others, both verbally and in writing
  • Proven background in accurate, high volume data entry
  • The ability to manage time, meet deadlines and prioritize
Role Assets:
  • 2 years+ experience in accounting role
  • Post-secondary education with a focus in accounting
  • Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with QuickBooks an asset.
