Hourly Rate: $19.44/hour plus 4% vacation payLocation: Halton Region which includes Burlington, Acton, Georgetown, Milton and OakvilleWork Schedule: 12 months/year, 8 hours/day (Monday-Friday) Afternoon Shift; 40 hours a weekThe Halton District School Board (HDSB) invites applications for the role of Custodian. Our Custodians contribute to the well-being of our students and staff by ensuring our schools and administrative offices are clean, well maintained and pleasant places to learn and work. New Custodial staff usually work 40 hours per week. New team members are provided with training on the technical aspects of the position and are mentored by Area Supervisors and staff. Employees work afternoon shifts (after the school day ends) and have the opportunity to work day shifts during March Break, Professional Development Days and during the summer months. Once our casual caretaker successfully completes the six (6) month probationary period their rate of pay increases to $22.20/hour. Custodians who have mastered the position will be placed in a permanent position with a full benefit package which includes paid vacation, pension, dental and medical benefits.Qualifications/Requirements include one or more of the following: completion of a High School Diploma or an equivalent combination of experience and education are required; customer service driven; collaborative team players; creative problem solvers; quick learners, effective communicators (English speakers with basic English writing skills) and safety conscious. A valid driver’s license is required and a reliable vehicle as you will be required to work in various sites within the region of Halton and will have to be able to attend two different work sites within the same shift; Physically fit to allow you to lift on average 20 lbs on occasion 50 lbs; bending; walking; standing; climbing ladders and stairs; Commercial or Industrial cleaning experience an asset.Prior to being accepted for this position, applicants will be required to demonstrate to the School Board that they have the physical capabilities to perform the essential physical duties of the job. Potential employment candidates must agree to complete a Post Offer Screen performed via a Service Provider contracted by the School Board. The Post Offer Screen may include the following:

• Disclose pertinent medical history
• Perform a musculoskeletal screen with a Regulated Health Professional
• Perform strength and endurance testing including:
• Low lifting (floor to waist)
• Mid lifting (waist to shoulder)
• High lifting (above shoulder)
