Job Description

We are seeking an experienced full-time ICI Chief Estimator to join our growing team in Burlington,Ontario. Reporting directly to the President, you will build, oversee, and participate in the success ofthe estimating team. A proven collaborator with strong relationship building skills and a successfultrack record in both design-build and bid-build work, you are a driven, passionate professional whois looking for an opportunity to be an important member of the company leadership team, and adirect contributor to the continued growth and success of the organization.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and manage the estimating team
  • Oversee all estimates and proposals, including detailed review of others’ work.
  • In collaboration with our business development and sales team: accept, review and respond to all
request for proposals, quotations, pre-qualifications and preliminary budgets
  • Handover of awarded projects to the project delivery team
  • Build, train, develop, coach/mentor and manage the estimating team
  • Propose and approve potential bid strategies, constructability requirements and advantages or
innovations to increase project win success.
  • Maintain and communicate data on construction and material cost trends affecting project costs.
  • Work closely with the president and leadership team to develop and execute on the strategic plan.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships internally and externally.
  • Collaborate with other leadership team members to ensure alignment across departments
  • Review and refine performance metrics for the estimating team.
  • Develop/Maintain effective estimating systems, processes, and tools to ensure a consistent
approach to estimating.
  • Actively participate in industry and client relations to enhance company image.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the role of Senior Estimator and/or Chief Estimator within a
General Contracting (GC) and / or Design-Build GC firm having been the sole or lead Estimator
  • Proficient knowledge in Site Development, Building Envelope and M&E Systems for ICI facilities
  • Previous experience estimating completed projects ranging in cost from $250,000 to $75 million.
  • Previous experience delivering projects using CCA 5a, CCA 5b, CCDC 2, CCDC 3 and CCDC 14
Prime Contracts
  • Previous experience using CCA 1 & CCA 17 Sub-Contracts
  • Proficiency in the use of construction project management software, as well as Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency in organizing construction data using the most recent MasterFormat.
  • PQS designation is considered an asset
  • Gold Seal Certification is considered an asset
  • French bilingual is considered an asset
  • National and international experience considered an asset

  • Ability to effectively communicate with Project Delivery team members and Site Superintendents
to verify scope capture and project plan of the estimate
  • Ability to effectively communicate with engineers and architects to ensure all scopes of work are
considered.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
